The National Public iNewspapers

The for profit newspaper industry is shrinking, consolidating, going chapter eleven or bankrupt; 90% -  the percentage of U.S. media owned by five corporate media conglomerates; 50% -  the percentage of newsroom staff at U.S. newspapers that have been laid off over the last decade; 27% - the percentage of large newspapers that saw layoffs in 2018—and that was an improvement over the 31% that saw layoffs the year before. This is a negative development in any free society.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting was created on November 7, 1967, when U.S. president Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967. The new organization initially collaborated with the National Educational Television network—which would become the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

National Public Radio (NPR, stylized as npr) is a privately and publicly funded American non-profit membership media organization based in Washington, D.C. NPR differs from other non-profit membership media organizations, such as AP, in that it was established by an act of Congress[2] and most of its member stations are owned by government entities (often public universities).

It serves as a national syndicator to a network of over 1,300 public radio stations in the United States. The importance of not for profit media grows as the newspapers close.

NPN is at the other end of that spectrum, the main focus of NPN USA is CommUNITY.
